What makes a good album? For me it has to be cohesive , have a begining, middle and end. Also the sounds used need to fit together across the whole album. Blood On The Tracks comes to mind, an album that uses a minimum amount of instruments, textures and song structures, but still manages to devastate on each listening.
My album will have a limited number of sounds and textures, more from necessity that design. Hopefully it will sound all the better for it. Most of the songs are written, I have good ideas about the few still to be completed. Just hope that I have the time to do the project justice.
A Monday playlist, enjoy.

Here We Go AGAIN!
Hello and welcome to the first of what I hope is many blogs about my RPM challenge for 2008. If you want to read more about it click on the link opposite.
Yes, recording an album in 29 days is what this is all about. I did the challenge last year and produced my first album "Clearing Out The Attic". I will post a link to that soon. Last years album was very much an acoustic affair, this year couldn't be more different.
I have been listening to a lot of the music that got me into music in the first place, Velvet Underground, Jesus & Mary Chain The Smiths etc. Also I have been listening to a lot of Spacemen 3, Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd.
I will be recording on my Zoom MRS8 recorder and playing on a cheap Tele copy, a cheaper acoustic, a Casio VL-Tone and a congo drum.
I already have most of the songs for the album written, just need a couple more to finish it off.
This blog will have demo versions of the tracks, photos and playlists of what I am listening to at the moment.
I think that this blog is more for my own good than anyone elses, however if you want to leave a comment or get in touch, please do.
